PETZL Charlet AZTAR

The AZTAR is one tool to do it all - alpine, icefall and mixed climbing. You will appreciate the graceful curve of the upper shaft which provides adequate clearance for all-around climbing plus the small diameter ribbed hourglass grip which locks in your fingers but is also low profile for penetration in hard snow. For reference clearance along the upper shaft is approximately 13 mm less than the QUARK with the tip of the pick and lower handle support points being very similar. By designing a lighter ergonomic one-piece, one-bolt aluminum head, the balance point is lower (approx. 18 mm compared to the QUARK) giving the feel of a lighter swing (without sacrificing penetration power on ice) and better balance while dry-tooling. Subtle reverse curved and drooped pick has built in wrench (use your spare to change picks) and is available in optional, durable QUATRO "T" rated model (Technical - 3.5 kn min. strength) for mixed torquing.
