TRANGO S4 SPLITTER CAMS
SPLITTER CAMS feature the patented Direct Offset Cam which has several significant advantages. First you will notice that S4 SPLITTERS have the narrowest head of any SLCD (.21" narrower than a .33 ALIEN)! This allows them to fit in pockets and pin scars where other micro 4 cam units (4 cams, FCUs) simply can't. Second, unlike all other micro cams, each pair of cam lobes rotate in the same plane. This focuses the force of each cam in direct opposition to one another for stronger placements in small cracks. In desperate shallow placements where only two cams are able to make contact (listen up aid climbers) only 1/2'" of crack depth is needed to conceal and hold one pair of cams... Of course optimum placement strength is achieved when a SLCD is placed at it's mid-range, in a pocket, deep in the crack with all cams fully contacting the rock. Lastly, all sizes, including the smallest .5 have full strength cam stops! Count on Trango's great ergonomics (direct clip loop, molded thumb bridge), free floating trigger (control cam-pairs independently or together) and a doubled up 12 mm Spectra-Nylon sling - which can be racked short (3") or extended (6") to save a quick draw.
